Big Ku Kueh - 大龟粿 or what people usually call, Ka Ta Kueh - 脚踏粿. It is a traditional belief that when a 1 year old baby steps on the Big Ku Kueh followed by stepping into a pair of new shoes, the baby will be blessed with a smooth journey in life, or in Chinese, 顺顺利利. Another traditional activity is Birthday Grab, or in Chinese, 抓周. This is when a number of items is placed in front of the baby to be grab freely and the chosen items are believed to predicts the child's future career.
